This Seiko Westminster Chiming Quartz Movement with Pendulum is the exact pendulum movement I use for my own professional clock conversions, bringing traditional mechanical chiming clocks back to life with the visual presence of a pendulum and the reliability of modern quartz operation. It delivers authentic Westminster or Whittington chimes, quarter-hour melodies, automatic night silence, and smooth pendulum motion — all without the upkeep of clockwork. >> Scroll down to listen to a couple of VIDEOS showing these chimes in action This Seiko Westminster chiming movement with pendulum is a premium quartz replacement designed for wall and longcase-style clocks that require traditional quarter-hour melodies, an hourly strike, and a functioning pendulum — without the complexity, wear, and maintenance of mechanical clockwork. This is the identical pendulum movement I use for all customer clockwork-to-quartz conversions, including those featured on ClocksUpcycled.co.uk. If you are converting a mechanical chiming clock yourself and want to retain both the sound and presence of a traditional pendulum clock, this is the same proven solution I fit in my own professional restorations. NOTE – I supply ONLY the Euro Fit (EF) versions of this movement. This makes it far easier to reuse or adapt original clock hands when converting a mechanical movement to quartz. If you are converting a clockwork clock and want to retain your ORIGINAL hands — as I always do — you may need to adapt them to suit the EF shaft. You can either do this yourself or SEND ME your existing hands and I will professionally adapt them for quartz use. The cost of this hand adaptation service is £35, including return delivery. The movement offers a dual chime option, allowing you to select either the classic Westminster melody or the Whittington chime. It follows a 4 × 4 chime pattern, playing a partial melody every 15 minutes, a full melody on the hour, and then striking the hour count — preserving the rhythm and character of a traditional chiming pendulum clock. A built-in selective automatic night shut-off allows you to silence the chimes overnight, while the manual volume control lets you fine-tune the sound level to suit your room. The step-seconds quartz motion provides reliable, accurate timekeeping, while the pendulum adds visual movement and traditional charm. Powered by a single MN1400 (C-cell) battery, the movement is efficient and dependable for everyday use. Unlike many suppliers, I include the speaker as standard, complete with speaker wires and all required fittings — making installation straightforward. Whether you’re restoring a vintage pendulum clock, converting a worn mechanical movement, or building a high-quality chiming clock from scratch, this Seiko pendulum unit delivers the ideal balance of traditional appearance and modern reliability — and it’s the same solution I confidently install for my own customers.
