This range of UTS High Torque quartz movements is specifically selected for clock conversions and repairs where larger or heavier hands require increased driving power. These are the same proven movements used when converting clocks for customers and for resale — particularly in longcase and grandfather clock conversions — chosen for their consistent performance, accuracy, and long-term durability. Each movement comes with: 1 x clock movement 1 x rubber spacer (1mm) 1 x dial screw 1 x minute hand nut (EF only) Extra 1mm spacers available here NOTE – If you are converting a clockwork clock to quartz and wish to use the original hands — as is always recommended — you will need to either adapt the existing hands to fit the Euro Fit shaft of this movement, or send the original hands in to be professionally adapted. A dedicated hand adaptation service is available at £35, including return delivery. UTS High Torque movements are widely regarded as one of the most reliable quartz options available, making them particularly well suited to heritage clocks, upcycling projects, and quality domestic timepieces where longer or heavier hands are employed. When paired with correctly converted original hands, they allow a clock to retain its authentic look while benefiting from the convenience and reliability of quartz timekeeping. UTS – High Torque specification: Minute hand: maximum length 400 mm, maximum weight 20 g (50 g counterweight) Seconds hand: maximum length 125 mm, maximum weight 1.2 g Maximum hand lengths are a guide only and generally require counterbalancing All common variants are stocked, including: EF (Euro Fit) movements for flat-sided minute shafts Minute: 3.8 x 2.8mm Hour: 5.0mm NEF (Non-Euro Fit) movements for round shaft hands Minute: 3.50mm Hour: 5.00mm Multiple shaft lengths to suit different dial thicknesses These movements feature a standard step-seconds motion, strong torque suitable for original metal hands, and dependable long-term operation. They are supplied as standalone movements, allowing customers to select the correct hand fittings and shaft length for their specific clock. This range is intended for DIY customers and restorers who want to carry out their own conversions using proven, professional-grade components — not low-cost hobby movements. When installed correctly, UTS quartz movements offer a clean, discreet upgrade that respects the clock’s original design while delivering modern accuracy and reliability.
